The ₦100 Minimum Deposit

The Betway minimum deposit in Nigeria is ₦100, one figure for the whole site. No per-method minimum is published, and neither is a maximum. Nine methods are listed: two card checkouts, bank transfer, GTB *737, Quickteller and four wallets. Everything is in naira.

We went through the Betway Nigeria FAQ and terms on 6 October 2026 to pull together this Betway minimum deposit guide, and the first thing to say is what the sources do not contain. The cashier is behind the login, so there is no public page that lists a limit for each payment method. What Betway does state is short and clear: ₦100 is the lowest amount you can deposit, ₦100 is also the minimum stake on a bet, and the welcome offer asks for ₦500 on the first deposit. Anything beyond that you will see only inside your account, at the moment you pick a method.

That makes ₦100 a genuinely low entry point. It is the price of a small data bundle, and it lets you test the whole payment chain with almost nothing at stake: pick a method, pay, watch the balance update, and check how the debit appears at your bank. It is a habit we recommend. A small test deposit tells you whether your card is enabled for online use, whether your bank sends the OTP promptly and whether the wallet you prefer is linked to the right phone number, all before you commit a larger amount.

The rest of this page follows the order you would meet things in practice. We start with debit cards, which run through the Paystack and Flutterwave checkouts, then the bank rails (bank transfer, the GTB *737 code and Quickteller), then the wallets (Opay, Palmpay and Paga). After that comes a section on how a deposit looks on a bank statement, one table with every method side by side, and a troubleshooting section for payments that do not go through. If you are weighing the offer rather than the cashier, jump straight to the ₦500 deposit bonus guide. If you play from Imo State, the Betway in Imo page explains how the state-level rules work, while the payment side stays as described here.

Two numbers, not one. ₦100 gets you into the casino and sportsbook. ₦500 is the smallest first deposit that can start the welcome offer. Depositing ₦100 first does not stop you from topping up to ₦500 later, but the offer's first deposit is the one that counts, so read the offer rules before you pay.

What the ₦100 minimum means for your play

A ₦100 deposit covers one bet at the minimum stake, or a handful of smaller rounds in games that accept low stakes. Casino titles set their own stake ranges, so a slot or a crash round may start higher or lower than ₦100, and the lobby shows the range on each game. Treat the minimum deposit as an access fee for the cashier, not as a recommendation. If you are depositing ₦100 on a regular basis, it is worth asking whether a weekly budget set once with the wager-limit tools would serve you better.

One related number is worth knowing if small deposits are your style. The Slots and Crash cashback is 5% of net losses with a minimum payout of ₦1,000. Simple arithmetic says you would need ₦20,000 of net losses inside the window before the payout threshold is reached, so a player who deposits ₦100 at a time will rarely see that cashback. It is not a reason to deposit more. It is only a reminder that some promotions are built for larger turnover.

Card deposits

Paying With a Debit Card

Betway has no separate "card" entry in its list. Cards go through the two checkout pages it names: Paystack Checkout and Flutterwave Checkout. You choose one in the cashier, enter the amount, and a payment page from that provider opens. Both are established Nigerian payment processors, which means the card page you see is theirs and not Betway's, and your card number is entered on the processor's screen.

Which cards work? That depends on the processor, and both publish their lists. Paystack states that it accepts debit and credit cards issued by Mastercard, Visa or Verve, with Verve specific to Nigeria. Flutterwave states that its Checkout takes cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, Verve, Discover and American Express. For the typical Nigerian debit card from GTBank, Access, Zenith, First Bank, UBA or any other bank, that means the three schemes you would expect are covered on both sides.

Verve cards

Verve is the home-grown scheme and is accepted by both Paystack and Flutterwave. If your bank gave you a Verve card, it can be tried on either checkout. Keep your phone close, with the SIM your bank has on file, in case an OTP is requested.

Visa debit

Visa is accepted on both checkouts. A naira Visa debit card is the most common route, and the amount is taken in naira, so there is no currency conversion to worry about. Your bank may still ask you to approve the payment inside its app.

Mastercard debit

Mastercard is likewise listed on both. Two processors with the same card list matter for one practical reason: if one checkout page refuses a card, the other is a free second attempt and the card itself may be fine.

Which checkout first?

Betway does not rank them, and we cannot see a difference in the published minimum. Start with whichever one your last successful online payment used. If it declines, switch to the other before you change anything on the card.

One point that is easy to miss: the processors support more than cards, but what appears on your screen is what Betway has switched on in its cashier. Flutterwave lists card, USSD, bank transfer, account, internet banking, NQR, Apple Pay, eNaira and Opay among its Nigerian options, and Paystack lists cards, bank account payment, USSD and transfer. Do not expect every one of those to show up inside Betway's checkout. If an option you see on another site is missing here, that is a Betway setting and not a fault on your side.

A card deposit step by step

  1. 1

    Open the cashier

Log in, tap Deposit and enter the amount in naira. Type at least ₦100, or ₦500 if the welcome offer is your goal.

  2. 2

    Choose Paystack or Flutterwave

Pick one checkout. The card form that opens belongs to the processor, so check that the amount on that page matches what you typed.

  3. 3

    Enter the card and authenticate

Fill in the number, expiry and CVV, then complete the PIN, OTP or in-app approval your bank asks for. This step is where most failures happen, which is why the declined-payments section below spends so long on it.

  4. 4

    Wait for the confirmation screen

Do not close the page while it spins. Once it returns you to Betway, check the balance. If it has not updated after a few minutes, keep the reference number from the receipt and use live chat.

Two habits make card deposits smoother. First, switch on online transactions for your card in your banking app before you try, because many cards ship with web payments disabled. Second, keep the card's daily online limit in mind: banks set their own caps on web payments, and they are separate from anything Betway might apply. If you want to deposit a larger sum than your card's cap, a bank transfer is the usual alternative and it is covered next.

  • Cards listed by the processors: Visa, Mastercard and Verve on both Paystack and Flutterwave; Flutterwave also names Discover and American Express.
  • Minimum: ₦100, same as every other method, with no card-specific minimum published.
  • Withdrawals: never back to the card. Payouts go to your own bank account or to an Opay, Palmpay or Paga account on your own number.
Bank rails

Bank Transfer, GTB *737 and Quickteller

Three entries in the Betway list work straight from a bank account and do not need a card in your hand. They suit players who prefer to approve a payment in a banking app, who have no card enabled for online use, or who simply do not want to type a card number into a web page. They are also the natural route for deposits bigger than a card's online limit.

Bank Transfer

You are shown a bank account number and you send the money to it from your own bank app. Both processors describe this channel: Flutterwave says the customer pays to a unique account number generated at checkout, and Paystack describes temporary accounts for the same purpose. Because the account is created for your payment, send the exact amount shown, and send it once.

GTB *737

This is the USSD route for GTBank customers. Paystack's help article states that its USSD channel currently supports GTBank only, through the *737# code, and that the code expires after 6 hours. You dial from the phone number linked to your account, authenticate, then confirm on the checkout page. No mobile data is needed for the dialling part.

Quickteller

Quickteller is a separate entry in the Betway list, and the cashier shows its own steps once you select it. Betway does not publish a per-method limit for it. Have your bank or wallet ready, and read the screen carefully because the prompts differ from the card checkouts.

Making a bank transfer deposit work

The one real danger with transfers is the temporary account. A number generated for a single payment is meant for that payment only. If you save it as a beneficiary and reuse it next week, the money may not be matched to your Betway account. Each deposit should start in the cashier, and each transfer should go to the account number shown for that deposit.

  • Send the exact amount: if the cashier asks for ₦2,000, do not round up or split it across two transfers.
  • Use your own account: pay from a bank account in your name, the same one you will later use to withdraw.
  • Keep the receipt: take a screenshot of the transfer confirmation with the time and reference. Support will ask for it if anything is late.
  • Mind the clock: the account shown at checkout is temporary, and a USSD code from the GTB route expires after 6 hours.
  • Do not reuse an old account number: it was made for a past payment.
  • Do not pay from someone else's account: Betway pays out only to you, and keeping everything in your name keeps the record clean.

For GTBank customers the USSD route has a real advantage when your data is weak or your banking app is down: it needs only network signal. Its limits are the flip side of that convenience. According to Paystack's help article, USSD cannot be used for recurring payments, so every deposit is a fresh one, and your bank or mobile network can apply a charge for the session. Check your tariff once and you will know what a ₦100 deposit really costs you through that rail. Customers of other banks have the transfer and card routes, and Quickteller may offer more options in the cashier.

Betway does not publish processing times for deposits, so the table later on lists speed as not published. For withdrawals the published figure is up to 2 business days, which is covered in the table section.

Wallets

Opay, Palmpay and Paga Wallets

Four entries in the Betway deposit list are wallet routes: Opay, Opay wallet, Palmpay and Paga. For a lot of Nigerian players, a wallet is the practical answer to a bank that blocks gambling-style card payments, or a card that never quite passes verification. The wallet is topped up from any bank, then used to pay. Betway lists Opay twice, once as Opay and once as Opay wallet, and the cashier behind the login shows how the two differ. Both need an Opay account, so there is no reason to open anything extra.

Opay

Flutterwave also lists Opay among its Nigerian checkout options. Fund the Opay balance from your bank first, then pay from the app. Using the wallet keeps the deposit separate from your main account balance.

Palmpay

Palmpay follows the same idea: a balance in the app, topped up from your bank, then used to pay Betway. It matters on the withdrawal side too, because Palmpay is one of only three wallets that Betway pays out to.

Paga

Paga is the third wallet that can receive withdrawals. If you already use Paga for bills and airtime, its account can handle your Betway deposits too, with the same ₦100 minimum.

The same-number rule

The wallet detail that deserves the most attention is on the withdrawal side. Betway pays withdrawals to your own bank account, or to an Opay, Palmpay or Paga account registered with the same mobile number as your Betway account. That wording matters. A wallet opened on your sister's phone, a business line or an old SIM will not qualify, even if you control it. So if you plan to cash out to a wallet, deposit with a wallet that sits on your own registered number. That keeps deposits and withdrawals pointed at the same person, which is the situation Betway's rule describes.

It also means the wallet route is two-way only for Opay, Palmpay and Paga. A wallet is not a gateway for other providers: if you hold a different wallet that Betway does not list, you cannot use it, and you should fund the Opay, Palmpay or Paga account from your bank instead. The lists of what is not on the Nigerian cashier are also worth remembering, since several players look for them. Neteller, PayPal, Skrill, AstroPay, Jeton, Moniepoint and crypto are not options for Nigerian players here, so do not waste time hunting for them.

  • Fund the wallet first: top up from your bank before opening the Betway cashier, so the payment does not stall on a low balance.
  • Check the wallet limits: wallets set their own daily caps, which are separate from Betway and depend on the verification tier of your wallet account.
  • Match the number: the phone number on the wallet should be the one on your Betway profile.

Wallets also suit people who want to keep gambling money apart from a salary account: fund the wallet with a fixed sum and the balance becomes a natural cap. Whatever you choose, deposit only what you can afford to lose, and if play stops being fun, use the cooling-off or self-exclusion options (24 hours, 1 month, 3 months or permanent) described in your account settings.

On your statement

How a Deposit Looks on Your Statement

Players ask this more than almost anything else, usually in the form "what will my family see?" or "which line is the Betway one?" The honest answer has two layers. We can say how the payment processors work, and we can tell you what to look for. What we cannot do is print the exact words that appear on your statement, because Betway does not publish its descriptor and the wording is decided by the processor and your bank rather than by this site.

What is verifiable: a Betway deposit is carried by either Paystack or Flutterwave when you use the card or checkout routes, so the debit is a payment through a processor and not a transfer to a casino account in Betway's name. Flutterwave tells merchants to keep their "doing business as" name recognisable so customers know what they paid, and its own dispute guidance lists a cardholder not recognising the charge on a statement as a typical reason for a chargeback. In other words, the processor expects the line to carry a name linked to the merchant, but which name is Betway's setting, and we have not seen it published.

Card payments

The debit is a card transaction in naira for the amount you typed, with the date and time of the payment. Look for the amount first. The merchant text may show the processor's name, Betway's name or the operator's legal name, Digi Bay Limited. We cannot say which, and you should not rely on a guess.

Bank transfer

A transfer is a plain outgoing transfer to the account number generated at checkout. Your banking app shows the beneficiary name before you confirm, so screenshot that screen. It is your best proof, and it is the name that will usually sit in your history as well.

GTB *737

A USSD payment debits the GTBank account you authenticated with. The line in your GTBank history will reflect the payment channel and the amount. Match it with the time you dialled.

Wallet payments

Opay, Palmpay and Paga show the payment inside the wallet's own transaction list. If you funded the wallet from your bank, the bank statement shows only the top-up, not the Betway payment. The two entries are separate.

Matching a line to a deposit

  1. 1

Start from the amount and time

Note the exact naira amount and the minute you paid. These two details narrow a busy statement to one or two lines faster than any name.

  2. 2

    Check the payment reference

The processor gives each payment a reference. Paystack, for one, identifies each transaction with a unique reference, and the same string helps support trace it. Save it from the confirmation screen or the receipt.

  3. 3

    Compare with the Betway balance

Your account history shows the deposit with its time. A bank line at the same minute and the same amount is your match.

  4. 4

Ask support if two lines look alike

If you made two deposits of the same amount within minutes, support can tell which payment belongs to which reference, which a statement cannot.

If a line looks unfamiliar days later, do not dispute it with your bank before you have compared it with your Betway history. Many disputes start from a simple failure to recognise a payment, which is exactly the situation the processors' own guidance describes. A dispute you open against a payment that was in fact yours can complicate a perfectly good account, while a two-minute check against your deposit history settles it. The point of this section is not to hide anything. If privacy at home matters, the practical step is to rely on a wallet, because the wallet's statement is in an app you control.

Every method shares the ₦100 minimum, so the interesting differences are in how each one is used and where the winnings can be paid back. How to read the columns

Min. ₦100 is the figure from the betting rules, and it applies site-wide. If the cashier shows something different for a specific method, trust the cashier, because it is the live screen. Max. No maximum is published for any method. Your practical ceiling is set by your own card, wallet or bank limits, and by Betway's verification steps: normally no documents under ₦250,000, a verified account between ₦250,000 and ₦500,000, and verification plus a meeting with a Betway representative above ₦500,000.

Speed. Deposit speed is not published for any method, so we do not give a number. For withdrawals the terms say up to 2 business days, and payouts are usually automatic. Fee. "None stated" means the sources we read state no deposit fee, and say plainly that withdrawals do not incur any charges. That is not the same as every step being free of cost: your bank, wallet or network keeps its own tariff, and a transfer or USSD session can carry a small charge on their side. Withdrawal possible. This column is about where money can come back to, not about reversing a deposit. Withdrawals are paid only to your own bank account, or to an Opay, Palmpay or Paga account registered with your own mobile number. A card or a checkout deposit therefore pays out to your bank account, and the wallet deposits can also pay out to the same wallet.

Choosing between them

  • You have a working debit card: start with Paystack or Flutterwave. Two checkouts mean a second attempt if the first declines.
  • You want no card involved: bank transfer, or GTB *737 if you bank with GTBank.
  • You want a separate gambling balance: Opay, Palmpay or Paga, funded on your own registered number.
  • You plan a larger deposit: bank transfer usually avoids card caps, but read the verification steps first.

If you are ready to put the table to use, you can open a Betway account and make your first ₦100 payment. Once the first deposit is done, the ₦500 deposit bonus page shows how a ₦500 first deposit is turned into the welcome offer.

Troubleshooting

Why a Payment Is Declined

A declined deposit almost never means anything is wrong with your Betway account. In most cases the refusal comes from your bank, your wallet or the authentication step, and the fix is on your side and takes a few minutes. Both Paystack and Flutterwave publish help pages on the usual causes, and the list below follows them, adapted to a Betway deposit.

Not enough available balance

The most common reason. Paystack's help centre notes a quirk: a bank can decline for insufficient funds even when your balance looks fine, because an earlier authorisation is holding part of the money. The hold is time-limited. Wait, or deposit a smaller amount such as ₦100 to check.

Card not enabled for online use

Many cards are issued with web payments off. Turn them on in your banking app or at a branch, then try again. This single step solves a large share of first-time declines.

3D Secure or OTP problems

Paystack explains that a card that is not registered for 3-D Secure may be blocked, and customers are told to contact their bank. Check that your phone number at the bank is current, that the OTP text is arriving, and that you enter it before it expires.

Bank-level decline

Sometimes the bank simply says no and gives no reason. The processor's advice is to ask your bank directly. A short call or a chat message usually clears a gambling-category block.

Expired transfer or USSD code

The account number made for a transfer is temporary, and a GTB USSD code expires after 6 hours. Start again from the cashier rather than reusing the old details.

Wrong account or number

For wallet payments, the number on the wallet should match the one on your Betway profile. The same number decides where a withdrawal can go, so fix a mismatch early.

A sensible order of fixes

  1. 1

Read the message on the screen

Declines usually come with a short reason such as insufficient funds, authentication failed or bank declined. Note the wording and the time.

  2. 2

    Check your alerts and balance

Look for a debit alert from your bank. If you were debited and Betway shows nothing, do not pay again yet, because a second payment would only double the problem.

  3. 3

    Switch the method

Try the other card checkout, a bank transfer, or a wallet. The nine entries exist for this reason, and a card that fails on one route can work on another.

  4. 4

    Lower the amount

A ₦100 payment tells you quickly whether the route itself works. If the small one passes and the large one fails, the cause is a limit at your bank or wallet, not a fault in the method.

  5. 5

Contact Betway support with the reference

Live chat runs 24/7. Send the amount, the time, the method and the payment reference. If you were debited and the funds never arrived, your bank can trace the transaction and, where a debit failed, reverse it.

Never pay twice to "force" it through. If the first debit is pending, a second one creates two charges to untangle. Wait, check, then act. Support can match references quickly, and nobody should have to hand over a PIN or OTP, so keep those private.

Two further cases deserve a mention. The first is a deposit that works, but sits below what you need: remember that the welcome offer needs ₦500, so a ₦100 payment will fund play but will not start it. The second is account verification. Betway ties its checks to amounts, and the higher withdrawal tiers start at ₦250,000, so cashing out a big win may come with a request for documents. Preparing a clear photo of your ID in advance saves time. For a quick view of state-level rules, if you play from there, the Betway in Imo page is the right companion to this guide.

Finally, a Betway minimum deposit of ₦100 is small enough to try a method, see it fail cheaply and switch. Treat the first payment as a test and write down which route worked for you.

Questions

Deposit Questions Answered

It is ₦100, a single site-wide figure stated in the betting rules of the Betway Nigeria terms. The welcome offer is the exception: its first deposit has to be at least ₦500, which is covered on the ₦500 deposit bonus page.

Betway publishes one minimum for the whole site and no per-method figures. The cashier sits behind the login, so if a method asks for more than ₦100 you will see it there before you confirm anything.

Betway does not publish a maximum deposit, either site-wide or per method. Published limits only appear on the verification side, and they apply to withdrawals: normally no documents under ₦250,000, a verified account from ₦250,000 to ₦500,000, and verification plus a meeting with a Betway representative above ₦500,000.

No deposit fee is published in the FAQ or the terms we read. Betway states that withdrawals do not incur any charges. Your own bank, wallet or mobile network can still apply its own charge, so check your provider's tariff for transfers and USSD sessions.

Betway lists nine: Paystack Checkout, Flutterwave Checkout, Bank Transfer, Opay, Opay wallet, Palmpay, Quickteller, Paga and GTB *737. Neteller, PayPal, Skrill, AstroPay and crypto are not on the Nigerian cashier.

Withdrawals are paid only to your own bank account, or to an Opay, Palmpay or Paga account registered with the same mobile number. Third-party accounts are not allowed, and payouts normally arrive automatically within 2 business days.

No. A ₦100 deposit funds your play, but the welcome offer needs a first deposit of at least ₦500 that is then wagered on one qualifying sports bet. See the ₦500 deposit bonus guide for the steps.

Wait a few minutes, check your balance and your bank alert, then contact Betway support 24/7 by live chat with the amount, time and payment reference. If the money does not return, your bank can trace and reverse a failed debit.
